Maine’s Best IPA is a unique blend of American hops with a British body, utilizing English 2-Row Pale malts. This IPA starts with a hoppy aroma and taste; ending with a sweet finish. Plenty of Munich and caramalts are used to give the beer that golden hue. There are fifty-six pounds of Cascade Hops used in each 50 barrel batch! Then we finish the beer with Willamette & Warrior Hops, (Warrior is a high-alpha acid variety of hops) All this leads to an IPA that is worthy to call Maine’s Best!

American Craft Brewer’s Week will be recognized May 14 – 20 and offers an exciting opportunity for small and independent craft brewers and the community of better beer retailers to celebrate the ever advancing beer culture here in the U.S. Plus, tens of thousands of beer enthusiasts and hard core beer geeks make time to toast the week. Here at Gritty’s each of our Pubs will celebrate with some special brews. In Portland we’ll be serving a Single Hopped Pale Ale. While in Auburn, they’ll be serving a Chocolate Porter and in Freeport, they’ll be offering a special small-batch Porter (5.7% ABV).

Tuesday nights we feature Travis James Humphrey playing LIVE. Travis goes on at 10pm – but he’s worth staying out to hear! He has been traveling throughout the great state of Maine, up and down the east coast, and as far away as Hawaii and Belize, singing for anyone who will listen. Travis has recently opened shows for Ricky Skaggs, B.B. King, and Jason Aldean, both as a solo performer and as part of other musical acts. He was the finale vocalist for a concert tribute to the late Bill Chinnock, and he performed at the 2010 Down East Country Festival with artists that included Johnny Hiland and Michael Peterson. His latest vocal collaboration with internationally-acclaimed guitarist Johnny Hiland is DIRTY BEAUTIFUL WORLD, and was released in May 2010 on Picker’s Pride Records. www.travisjameshumphrey.com

Take a step toward a cure and drink a pint or two!
Gritty’s L/A Brew Pub will be fund-raising in May for the son of a long-time regular customer, Amanda Winslow. Amanda’s son suffers from Crohn’s disease. They formed a team for a Crohn’s Disease Walk that’s scheduled for May 19th. 50 cents from every pint sold on Saturday nights in May will go to the walking team and we’ll be doing raffles & selling 50/50 tickets all in an effort to help Amanda and her son take steps towards a cure for Crohn’s Disease. All you have to do is buy a pint or two!
