GRITTY MCDUFF’S BREWING COMPANY SELECTED ONCE AGAIN AS THE OFFICIAL BREW PUB OF THE DEMPSEY CHALLENGE
Gritty McDuff’s Brewing Company has been named the official Brew Pub of the Dempsey Challenge, a cycling event to be held October 2nd & 3rd that will raise awareness and funds for the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing.
Established by popular Lewiston, Maine, native Patrick Dempsey, the event will draw thousands of avid cyclists who enjoy the sport and support the cause, along with an impressive list of professional cyclists, including Tour de France veteran George Hincapie, and celebrity supporters such as Patrick Dempsey himself.
“We are honored to be part of the Dempsey Challenge again,” said Thomas Wilson, Marketing Director for Gritty McDuff’s. “This event has a lot of momentum and Gritty’s is committed to increasing the energy from now through October. We’ll be serving the Dempsey Courage Ale again,” Wilson explains. “From July until the actual Dempsey Challenge happens, we’ll donate $1 from every pint of Courage Ale we sell to the Dempsey Challenge. We’re also working on some other activities that will help the Challenge: like giving away a bike jersey autographed by Patrick Dempsey. hosting a keg tapping party for the first keg of Courage Ale that we pour and we’re going to hold a golf tourney at Martindale Country Club to raise funds for the challenge. Last but not least, this year we have a team of people riding or walking in the Challenge.”
The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing is dedicated to providing high quality education, support and wellness services to cancer patients and their families. The Dempsey Challenge includes 10, 25, 50 and 100-mile rides and a 5k walk.
Gritty’s Dempsey Challenge Golf Tourney
On Monday, July 19, 2010, Martindale Golf Club will host Gritty’s Dempsey Challenge Golf Tourney. The net proceeds from the tourney will ultimately go to the Dempsey Challenge. We hope you’ll join us in making this fundraiser a great success by playing golf and having plenty of fun!
Golfers can expect to have a terrific time playing the Martindale Country Club course. Expect a full day including lunch, prizes and give-a-ways. The tourney is a scramble format to allow golfers at all levels the enjoyment of playing the course and participating in this important fundraiser. On site registration will start at 8am and the shotgun start will be at 9am.

E-mail your team information to thomas@grittys.com no later than July 2nd.
If you register by e-mail, you will pay for the tourney at registration.
The second method to register is to mail your registration & payment to Thomas at Gritty’s.
If you chose to register by mail, use the form on the next page and send it and a check in the amount of $500 to cover the team registration to: Gritty’s Dempsey Challenge Golf Tourney C/O Gritty McDuff’s, 396 Fore Street, Portland Maine 04101. This is a non-refundable cost. If some of the members of your team are unable to play on the day of the event, you are responsible for finding replacements. Everybody can expect to have a terrific time. There will be mulligans for sale, a 50/50 raffle, plenty of fantastic prizes, give-a-ways and a few surprises! We’ll follow the tourney with a summer-time BBQ Dinner, plenty of Gritty’s fine ales and the awards.
