Located just down Route 1 from Maine’s best outlets, Gritty’s Freeport Brew Pub and Restaurant is the perfect destination for the whole family. Our menu features everything from New England classics, to pub-style fare, pizza, innovative entrees, fresh seafood and more. Our capacious deck and backyard offer abundant seating and standing room that can accommodate large parties, and we’ve even got a playground to keep the young ones happy.

Our Freeport Brewery not only serves our busy pub, but also produces our our flagship and seasonal ales in custom 22 oz bottles. You can find our ales and a wide array of other Gritty’s goods to go in our on-premise retail store, the Brewtique, as well as other items on our online store, Grittys-Brewtique.com.

Gritty’s Freeport Brewpub and Restaurant is located right off exit 20 on Route 295; a convenient stop wherever you’re headed in Maine.

Our half-pound Black Angus burger, char-grilled and served on a bulky roll with lettuce, tomato and a pickle. Spice it up with Cajun spice!

GARDEN BURGER $15

The best homemade veggie burger around served with pickled onions, lettuce, tomato, pickle and horseradish mayo on a bulky roll.

TURKEY CLUB $17

Fresh oven-roasted turkey, bacon, tomato and lettuce served on wheat bread with cranberry mayo.

SHEPHERD'S PIE $16

Ground Black Angus beef simmered with garlic and spices in Black Fly Stout, layered with corn and mashed potatoes. Served with a demi salad.

FISH & CHIPS $18

Fresh haddock, ale-battered, fried to perfection and served over fries, with homemade tartar sauce, lemon and coleslaw. Heat it up with Cajun spice!

BAKED HADDOCK $20

Fresh haddock baked in white wine and topped with Ritz cracker crumble, served with potato cake and vegetable of the day.

CHICKEN BURRITO $16

Pulled chicken, peppers, onions, rice, and sweet chili sauce, wrapped and topped with cheddar jack cheese and baked. Add $3 if you want our extra hot burrito!

FRIED SHRIMP DINNER $18

Ale-battered shrimp served over a bed of french fries with coleslaw and cocktail sauce.

PUB MAC N CHEESE $17

Cavatappi pasta tossed in a classic cheese sauce. Served with grilled cornbread and fried jalapeños.

Our14'' hand-stretched, fresh dough crust, topped with whole milk mozzarella cheese and choice of sauce. Ask your server about our gluten free option.

PUB STYLE MEATLOAF $18

Andouille sausage, turkey and Black Angus beef blended with herbs and spices, then baked. Served with potato cake, vegetable and ale gravy.

PUB TACOS

Three grilled flour tortillas with shredded lettuce, cheddar jack, pickled onions, guacamole and your choice of filling. Served with rice, sour cream, chips and salsa.

Beers on Tap

Best Bitter, ABV: 5%

Best Bitter was the first beer we brewed at our Portland brewpub. This true English classic has been the anchor of our draft selection ever since. Best Bitter is copper-colored, smooth and a little crisp with malty flavors of toasted grain and some residual sweetness that tastes a little caramel then fades to a slight hop bitterness. Make sure you don't drink this brew too cold; it will mask all of the true Bitter style flavors. We use Yakima Golding hop flowers when we brew this beer.

Black Fly Stout, ABV: 5%

Black Fly Stout is an opaque black-colored brew with a cream-colored head. First there is a rush of mild roasted malt and subdued black currant fruitiness, then the roasted malt kicks things up a notch by unleashing an even burnt charcoal bitterness. Malt sweetness holds this brew together in the beginning, then the dryness sets in to make the mouth beg for more. Lingering suggestions of espresso and vague chocolate flavor make up the end. We use six different grains to brew this dark masterpiece and we balance the full palate with Oregon Willamette and Yakima Clusters hops. The Alström Brothers at Beer Advocate Magazine gave Gritty's Black Fly Stout a perfect 100 score and had this to say about our Stout: "One of the top stouts brewed in the US, very well balanced and is even more heavenly on nitro-tap. Certainly a stout lover's stout..."

Pub Style Pale Ale, ABV: 5%

"Original Pub Style captures what made people fell in love with craft brewing in the first place: a fresh, classic pale ale with plenty of hop character," says Brewmaster Ed Stebbins. Original Pub Style is a light copper-colored medium-bodied beer with a nice dry bite at the finish. A subtle combination of Cascade and Willamette hops give this ale a fine floral aroma and a slightly fruity undertone. The taste captures the freshness of a hand-crafted ale that goes right from the conditioning tank to your pint glass.

maine maple porter, ABV: 5.2%

A big thanks to Shane from Maine Backwoods Maple Syrup in Dixfield for their wonderful Maine made Maple Syrup! The porter features a delicious balance between the malt and maple syrup, and tastes like liquid buckwheat pancakes in a glass!

Special Oatmeal Stout, ABV: 7.6%

One of the first signs of Spring is the release of Gritty’s SOS just in time for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations! A complex grain bill coupled with traditional East Kent Goldings hops delivers a powerful punch to your taste buds. Notes of English toffee, expresso coffee & Crème Brule linger on the palate, courtesy of the oats used in the grain bill.
